THE MAKING OF DANIELLE NICOLE HANDBAGS: HONG KONG 2011
Here in China, and soon to head to L.A. for market week; then, it's back to New York City!
This year, traveling through Asia, and working with my factories, I wanted to give you a little insight into the process. Granted, I painted the picture prettier than it really is: there is a lot in between each stage that is just not as fun to see,
But, why should you have to see all of that un-fun stuff?
You deserve the best!
So, I have put together the process of a few bags, just to let you into my world. Each bag begins with inspiration; what colors are prominent for the season, where do you wear it; what details will be in your outfit this year that you will want it to complement, what shoes will you be wearing, how will you want your hair/hat?
Then, we spend hours just sketching versions upon versions of the bag, perfecting it, until we are happy with the sketch. We send that to the factory, and get a development sample back. From there, we tweak it more, we take out what we don't like, and we add more of what we do.
THE MAKING OF:
THE BUCKLE SATCHEL:
I add something more of myself into each bag; something I feel it won't be perfect without. We source new trims, and hard wear, each season, and try to get the best looking product every time. There are a lot of bags that fall out because they just don't seem right. But, what that leaves you with, are only the best; the cream of the crop.
THE BROOKE FAMILY CROSS BODY WITH PUSH-LOCK FLAP CLOSURE:
So, that is what I have put together for you, here, the best of the inspiration, the best sketch, and the best, or almost there, of the closest to the final product we have come to so far.
THE HAMMERHEAD SHOULDER BAG:
THE WHIPSTITCH CLUTCH:
I hope you have enjoyed this little window into my world. After all, YOU make it all worthwhile.
If you have feedback, just comment, and let me know! I would love to hear from you!
That's about all for now; stay tuned for more from L.A. Market week!
